On Tuesday 31 March, we held a special lunch for our Mandarin-speaking international students to explain more about how Easter, and the resurrection of Jesus, are core elements of the Christian faith.
We were delighted to be joined by Pastor Tim Chen and some other members of the Grace Lutheran Chinese Church in Glynde. They prepared a delicious, traditional meal that we enjoyed with some Chinese dumplings.
Pastor Tim then explained the Easter story using a fun game, where students had to open a number of plastic eggs, each containing a picture that represented something from the Easter account. It was fantastic to see the students grow in their understanding and make links between the story and our practices here at ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵֱ²¥, such as our Chapel services.
It was a pleasant surprise to discover that a few of the students had deep links with our visitors, either through a shared home city, or a shared dialect, which can really help someone to feel at home. A huge thanks to Pastor Tim and his team for coming along and to Steve Eden for helping us put this event together. We hope that the event will be the start of some new initiatives that enable our international students to gain a greater understanding of our faith and culture.
