Students and staff from ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵֱ²¥ College immersed themselves in the vibrant atmosphere of the Festival of Rice over the weekend, joining the wider community in a spectacular celebration of food, culture and connection.
Held on Saturday 9 May 2026, the streets of Unley came alive with colour, flavour, music and creativity as thousands gathered for this extraordinary cultural event. ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵֱ²¥ students proudly showcased their skills by demonstrating how to make hand roll temaki, enthusiastically inviting festival guests to join in and experience the art of Japanese-inspired cuisine firsthand.
Adding to the excitement, students also hosted engaging cultural activities including loom band making with Asian-inspired charms, and origami creations, which attracted families, children and community members throughout the day. The festival provided students with an invaluable opportunity to experience the energy and excitement of a large-scale community event while sharing their creativity, confidence and hospitality with others.
The Festival of Rice celebrates the humble grain that connects billions of people across the world, bringing together Adelaide’s leading culinary innovators, traditional flavours, bold fusion dishes and diverse cultural experiences. It was truly a memorable and enriching experience for everyone involved, and ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵֱ²¥ College was proud to be part of such a vibrant community celebration.
